Standing to one side, the godling Kassapa spoke this verse in the Buddhaās presence: Ekamantaį¹ į¹hito kho kassapo devaputto bhagavato santike imaį¹ gÄthaį¹ abhÄsi:
āIf a mendicant is a meditator, freed in mind, āBhikkhu siyÄ jhÄyÄ« vimuttacitto, and if they desire the heartās fulfillmentā Äkaį¹ khe ce hadayassÄnupattiį¹; having known the arising and passing of the world, Lokassa ƱatvÄ udayabbayaƱca, good-hearted, independent, that is their reward.ā Sucetaso anissito tadÄnisaį¹soāti.
