The Peacock: a past life story 9. Morajātaka

This Clear-eyed One arises, the One King, “Udetayañ cakkhumā ekarājā, palomino-colored, shining over the earth. Harissavaṇṇo pathavippabhāso; I bow especially to you, palomino-colored, shining over the earth: Taṁ taṁ namassāmi harissavaṇṇaṁ pathavippabhāsaṁ, guarded by you let us live out this day. Tayājja guttā viharemu divasaṁ.

Those brahmins who are knowledge-masters with respect to all things, Ye brāhmaṇā vedagū sabbadhamme, I worship them, may they keep me safe. Te me namo te ca maṁ pālayantu; Hail the Awakened Ones, hail Awakening! Namatthu buddhānaṁ namatthu bodhiyā, Homage to the freed ones, homage to freedom! Namo vimuttānaṁ namo vimuttiyā; Having made this protection, Imaṁ so parittaṁ katvā, the peacock wanders seeking. Moro carati esanā.

This Clear-eyed One sets, the One King, Apetayaṁ cakkhumā ekarājā, palomino-colored, shining over the earth. Harissavaṇṇo pathavippabhāso; I bow especially to you, palomino-colored, shining over the earth: Taṁ taṁ namassāmi harissavaṇṇaṁ pathavippabhāsaṁ, guarded by you let us live out this night. Tayājja guttā viharemu rattiṁ.

Those brahmins who are knowledge-masters with respect to all things, Ye brāhmaṇā vedagū sabbadhamme, I worship them, may they keep me safe.
