With Pañcālacaṇḍa Pañcālacaṇḍasutta

At Sāvatthī. Sāvatthinidānaṁ.

Standing to one side, the godling Pañcālacaṇḍa spoke this verse in the Buddha’s presence: Ekamantaṁ ṭhito kho pañcālacaṇḍo devaputto bhagavato santike imaṁ gāthaṁ abhāsi:

“The opening amid confinement “Sambādhe vata okāsaṁ, was discovered by the Buddha of vast intelligence, Avindi bhūrimedhaso; who awakened to absorption, Yo jhānamabujjhi buddho, the sage, the solitary boss bull.” Paṭilīnanisabho munī”ti.

“Even amid confinement they understand,” “Sambādhe vāpi vindanti, said the Buddha to Pañcālacaṇḍa, (pañcālacaṇḍāti bhagavā) “the principle for attaining extinguishment. Dhammaṁ nibbānapattiyā; Those who have acquired mindfulness Ye satiṁ paccalatthaṁsu, are perfectly serene in samādhi.” Sammā te susamāhitā”ti.
